Steve Hilgenberg

Steve's Biography

I was born and in Appleton and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1966. Since 1972, I've lived in rural Iowa County. In 1973, after receiving a diploma in graphic arts and printing from Madison Area Technical College, I became an owner of Inkwell Printers.

I remained a small business owner for 27 years. In addition to operating the printing business, I served on the Dodgeville School Board for seven years and was a community representative to the Head Start Policy Council for three years. I was a volunteer coach for the Dodgeville High School softball team for 10 years and a basketball referee for over 20 years - and I've bowled in leagues in Iowa County for over 30 years.

Now I've dedicated myself to further public service in the Legislature, and I am honored to represent the people of southwestern Wisconsin in the State Capitol.

I live in rural Dodgeville with my wife, Mary Mayo, and we have a daughter, Molly, who lives with her husband, Mark Herr, and our grandson, Evan, in Eau Claire.
